KATE WINSLET became a star thanks to Titanic – and last week she was involved in a real-life disaster.

Kate, 35, rescued Richard Branson's 90-year-old mother Eve from a fire that tore through his mansion on Necker Island, proving she is a hero as well as a film star. Her biggest success was The Reader, for which she won the 2008 Best Actress Oscar.
